Katy Sayers Green is a painter whose work maps humanity’s fragile relationship with myth, mystery and the natural world. Through richly layered compositions, she constructs visual topographies in which ecology and narrative converge, exploring how human life remains deeply entangled with the environments it inhabits.
Her practice is grounded in observation and witness, responding to the environmental transformations she has experienced over her lifetime. Katy’s paintings function as alternative or “rogue” maps, tracing shifting terrains shaped by climate volatility, biodiversity loss and cultural memory. Within these layered spaces, ancient stories become sources of reflection, offering ways to consider both present uncertainty and future possibility.
Drawing on poetry, classical mythology and religious symbolism, she revisits motifs that have long helped humanity orient itself within time and nature. Forms appear and dissolve across the surface, suggesting continuity, fragility and the enduring search for meaning.
