SHARED LIGHT - MARCELLO SILVESTRI

Biography

Marcello Silvestri (b. 1945, Verona) is an internationally recognised Italian painter and sculptor whose work bridges figuration and abstraction, spirituality and social conscience. Drawing inspiration from Mediterranean landscapes, ancient civilisations and sacred texts, his practice reflects an ongoing dialogue between faith, ecology and the human condition.

Self-taught, Marcello’s multi-material works explore themes of environmental responsibility, migration, conflict and renewal, often engaging deeply with biblical narratives — including an extensive pictorial cycle spanning from Genesis to Revelation. His compositions are contemplative yet urgent, balancing symbolic language with contemporary concerns.

Marcello has exhibited internationally in cities including Paris, New York, Rome, Brussels and Osaka, collaborating with artists, publishers and academic institutions. His recent projects include the exhibition Sacra Ecologia Dentro (2025), a continuation of The Gift of Nature, as well as the publication of Sapienza Antica Arte Contemporanea (2023). A documentary on his life and work, L’uomo di polvere e sabbia, is scheduled for release in 2026.
