Rashida Osman is an award-winning Islamic fine artist, calligrapher, educator and curator recognised for her distinctive fusion of traditional Islamic arts and contemporary expression. Drawing on her British and African heritage, she works primarily in Maghrebi Andalusi calligraphy and illumination, creating pieces that explore spirituality, inner peace and connection with the Divine.
Her journey into Islamic art began in her teenage years in South Africa, where she first encountered Arabic calligraphy. That formative experience later became a source of healing following personal tragedy, leading her to pursue both self-directed study and formal training. Rashida has studied classical scripts including Naskh, Thuluth, Sini and Kufi, as well as Turkish illumination, and continues to refine her practice through ongoing study with masters of Maghrebi Andalusi script.
Through disciplined craftsmanship and contemplative process, her work honours tradition while engaging contemporary audiences in reflection and spiritual awareness.
