SHARED LIGHT - SHAFAQ ZAHID

Biography

Shafaq Zahid works within the tradition of Japanese sumi-e, exploring the quiet power of the single brushstroke and the philosophy of impermanence. Her work meditates on cycles, interconnection and the balance between control and spontaneity, using minimal marks, gold leaf and natural imagery such as ants, bees, trees, flowers and moons.

Rooted in Zen aesthetics, Shafaq embraces simplicity, asymmetry and the beauty of the incomplete. Through mindful and disciplined movement, she allows ink, water and empty space to coexist, reflecting her belief that repetition and ritual create space for deeper understanding.

Her paintings invite viewers into a contemplative state, using subtle contrasts of light and dark, stillness and motion, to evoke the quiet harmony that arises when intention and surrender exist as one.
