Shared Light marks a cultural milestone as central London’s first interfaith art exhibition, extending The Aziz Foundation’s pioneering Ramadan Lights London programme into the visual arts for the first time. Inspired by the universal values associated with Ramadan - love, generosity, gratitude, patience, empathy, forgiveness, humility, peace, hope and community - the exhibition brings together artists of diverse backgrounds to reflect on what connects us across faiths and lived experience.
Encompassing painting, printmaking, charcoal, encaustic, metallic foils, mixed digital media, handcrafted woodwork and layered calligraphy, many distinct styles and visual languages coexist. Abstract and figurative approaches sit side by side; sacred geometry meets expressive mark-making; gold leaf and illumination converse with minimalist ink gesture.
Artworks were selected through an anonymous open call. Scroll down to learn more about each participating artist.
